Doxylamine Sandoz 15mg 10 scored film-coated tablets
Special warnings Insomnia can have various causes that do not necessarily require taking medication. Doxylamine hydrogen succinate, like any hypnotic or sedative, is likely to aggravate a pre-existing sleep apnea syndrome (increased number and duration of apneas). - Accumulation risk Like all drugs, doxylamine hydrogen succinate persists in the body for a period of about 5 half-lives. In elderly people or those suffering from renal or hepatic insufficiency, the half-life can be lengthened considerably. On repeated intakes, the drug or its metabolites reach the equilibrium plateau much later and at a much higher level. It is only after reaching a plateau of equilibrium that it is possible to assess both the efficacy and the safety of the drug. Dosage adjustment may be necessary. - Elderly H 1 antihistamines should be used with caution in the elderly, due to the risk of sedation and/or dizziness which can promote falls (for example when getting up at night), with often serious consequences in this population. Precautions for use - Elderly, renal or hepatic impairment There is an increase in plasma concentrations and a decrease in plasma clearance. It is recommended to reduce the dosage. This medicine contains lactose. Its use is not recommended in patients with galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose or galactose malabsorption syndrome (rare hereditary diseases).
