Short-term treatment of transient acute diarrhea in adults (from 15 years old). This treatment is a complement to dietary measures: read the chapter “Take special precautions” carefully. Take special care with IMODIUMLINGUAL 2 mg, oral lyophilisate: DO NOT LEAVE THIS MEDICINE WITHIN THE REACH OF CHILDREN. WARNING: you must not take this medicine: - in case of fever, vomiting, - if there is blood or mucus in the stool, - if your diarrhea occurs during antibiotic treatment (risk of severe damage to the colon). Similarly, you must stop this treatment and quickly consult your doctor in the following cases: - in case of fever, vomiting, - if there is blood or mucus in the stool, - in the absence of improvement after 2 days of treatment, - in case of constipation or significant swelling of the belly, - in case of intense thirst, feeling of dry tongue. Indeed, these signs show the onset of dehydration, ie significant loss of fluid due to diarrhea. Your doctor will then judge the need to prescribe rehydration, which can be done orally or intravenously. TAKE ADVICE FROM YOUR DOCTOR in case of liver disease because medical supervision during treatment is necessary. Diarrhea causes a loss of fluids and mineral salts. It is necessary that : - rehydrate with abundant drinks, salty or sweet, to compensate for fluid loss due to diarrhea (drink at least 2 litres), - eat during diarrhea, - remove raw vegetables, fruits, green vegetables, spicy dishes, as well as frozen foods or drinks. - prefer grilled meats, rice.
