Phytalessence Red Yeast Rice 30 Tablets

Red Rice Yeast is obtained by the fermentation of a microscopic fungus on the rice: this micro-organism produces a characteristic red pigment which gave its name to the yeast. Red Yeast Rice contains monacolin K (or lovastatin), a natural statin: statins are substances that inhibit the hepatic synthesis of cholesterol. Monacoline inhibits the action of HMG CoA reductase, the enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis. By neutralizing this enzyme, monacolin decreases the hepatic production of cholesterol and thus makes it possible to reduce blood cholesterol levels. Result: Reduction of total cholesterol, LDL ("bad cholesterol") and triglycerides. Increase in HDL ("good cholesterol").
