This medication is a hypolipidemic. It reduces blood lipids (fats). It is recommended as a supplement to diet in the treatment of certain hypertriglyceridemia (overload of triglycerides in the blood), when a suitable and diligent diet has proved insufficient. Continuation of the diet is always essential.
